The driveshaft is an indispensable part of the automobile, just as a man cannot live without his arms. The driveshaft consists of a shaft tube, a telescopic sleeve and a universal joint. The telescopic sleeve can automatically adjust the distance between the transmission and the drive axle changes. Universal joint is to ensure that the transmission output shaft and drive axle input shaft of the two axis of the angle of change, and to realize the two shafts of equal angular velocity transmission. General universal joints have cross shafts, cross bearings and flange forks and other components. The drive axle universal joints used in the Steyr series of heavy-duty vehicles use roller-type cross shaft bearings, which are short and thick and can transmit a large turning distance. At the end of the bearing there is a butterfly spring to compress the rollers. A reinforced nylon spacer with helical grooves is added to the end face of the cross shaft to prevent burnout when transmitting power at large angles of pinch or large turning distances.

This kind of transmission shaft adds a tubular sealing protective sleeve outside the flanged spline shaft, and two polyurethane rubber oil seals are set at the end of this protective sleeve, so that a completely sealed space is formed inside the expanding sleeve, so that the expanding spline shaft is protected from external sand and dust, which is not only dust-proof, but also rust-proof. Therefore, when assembling, a one-time application of grease inside the spline shaft and sleeve can fully meet the usage requirements, and there is no need to install grease nipple lubrication, which reduces the maintenance content.

The drive shaft is a high-speed, less-supported rotating body, so its dynamic balance is crucial. Generally speaking, drive shafts are tested for dynamic balance before leaving the factory and adjusted on a balancing machine. Therefore, a set of driveshafts is matched at the factory and special attention should be paid to them in use.

Heavy trucks choose different types of drive shafts according to different driving forms. Generally speaking, there is only one main drive shaft in the 4×2 driving form, and there are intermediate drive shafts, main drive shafts and middle and rear axle drive shafts in the 6×4 driving form. 6×6 driving form not only has intermediate drive shafts, main drive shafts and middle and rear axle drive shafts, but also has front axle drive shafts. In long wheelbase vehicles, the intermediate drive shaft is generally equipped with a drive shaft intermediate support. It consists of support frames and brackets.

The traditional structure of driveshaft telescopic sleeve is that the spline sleeve and flange fork are welded together, and the spline shaft is welded to the driveshaft tube.GWB's driveshaft changes the traditional structure by welding the spline sleeve and the driveshaft tube together, so that the spline shaft and the flange fork become one. And the rectangular tooth spline is changed to large pressure angle involute short tooth spline.

Summary:

The driveshaft is an indispensable part of the automobile, just as a man cannot live without his arms. The driveshaft consists of a shaft tube, a telescopic sleeve and a universal joint.
